affilinet World Cup Predictions

Here at affilinet there has been a lot of football talk with the World cup set to kick off tomorrow evening. We’ve even done our very own affilinet sweepstake, some fairing better than others in their team selections. In light of the tournament the team have jotted down their predictions for the player that will shine and the overall winning team. Find out more below!

Harry Tyndall

I am looking forward to seeing Adnan Januzaj perform at his first major tournament. Many predict Belgium to be a dark horse at the competition and I hope to see my Manchester United little star shine on the big stage. His flare, tricks and unpredictability should cause trouble.

I have learned in life – if you have Ronaldo there is always a chance and you must always believe. So I think Portugal have an outside chance of winning the Wold Cup and I would love to see my ‘man crush’, the most electrifying athlete in sports entertainment lift the famous trophy. I am in love!

Sylvia Leroy

You know what, I’ll chose Brazil’s goal keeper as these guys never get to shine enough in my opinion, so Júlio César for player to shine !

For team to win, I think Brazil is in a good position as usual!

Pete Berry

I think Ross Barkley will catch the eye but only with fleeting cameos sadly, I could see Chicharito lasting a little longer and getting amongst the goals, and I reckon Yaya Toure has the power and momentum to drive Ivory Coast to being this year’s African charge.

Rich Greenwell

For player to shine, outside of Messi and Ronaldo, Marco Verratti of Italy.

I think the team to win this year are Argentina!

Dan Lancioni

I can’t believe I’m picking a GK, but I’m excited to see how Belgium’s Number 1, Thibaut Courtois, gets on in this year’s world cup. He’s been the key to Atletico’s La Liga win this season and was unlucky to not lift the Champion’s League in May. Belgium have an outside chance for the trophy and Courtois will be an important asset to keep their hopes alive

I think the team to win this year is either Belgium or Japan – because I got them in the team sweepstake!

Kev Sutton

I fancy Spain for it… A lot of talk around Brazil and Argentina in particular, probably because of the conditions out there, but the Spanish will be used to the heat if not the humidity and they’re still World and European champions, plus it was two Spanish sides battling it out for the champions league this season, Real Madrid having smashed Bayern in the Semi’s. With a team that still has a lot of the players that were around in 2012 and Xavi and Iniesta still two of the best in the world at bossing the midfield, I reckon it will be them that come out on top.

As an Everton fan I’ve seen all season what Ross Barkley is capable of if he fancies it. He goes missing a bit on occasion or sometimes just doesn’t seem to be able to get into a game, however I think if he can get enough time on the pitch, he could and I would love, to see him make a mark for England.

James Bennie

So my player to shine will be Neymar (Brazil) – very talented player, and will prove he is one of the best in the world during this world cup!

Team to shine – Brazil – Whilst this isn’t their most talented squad, they have a lot of very good players, and being the host country will see them go all the way to victory in the final!
