Owned by search marketing firm Forward, uSwitch are well aware of the benefits of the affiliate channel. We’ve worked with uSwitch for almost a year and thought it was time we interviewed Esme Marchant, the switching site’s Commercial Executive.
Hi Esme, describe yourself in three words
Loyal, silly and conscientious.
If you weren’t a Commercial Executive at uSwitch what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t working at uSwitch I would probably be a teacher.
If you were granted one wish what would it be?
To have a beagle puppy that never grew up. I know it should be an end to hunger or something but I really want a puppy!
What’s your secret skill?
I make the best salad dressing. Sounds boring but it really is very good.
What was the last service you switched, and why?
The last service I switched was my broadband provider. I had just moved into my new flat and I wanted to get the best deal right from the start.
Do you have a top 3 tips for publishers wanting to work with you?
Have a site that contains relevant and up to date content. Talk to us, as an affiliate manager I want to hear feedback and ideas from my affiliates. Try and do something different to help you stand out in the crowd.
As an avid reader, what are your top 3 books?
Now this is a hard question, it’s like picking your favourite child. My desert island books would be Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, The Secret History by Donna Tart and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Attwood.
What does uSwitch do better than other price comparison websites?
Here at uSwitch we pride ourselves on having the best customer services. We listen to our customers, sort out any issues quickly and without fuss and try and make their user journey as easy and straight-forward as possible.
What are uSwitch working on outside of energy at the moment which could be of interest to our publishers?
We have just launched our new communications page and this has increased conversion for products like broadband and homephone. There are also some exciting developments coming soon, so watch this space!
When are your busiest times of year, when affiliates should be promoting you?
Obviously the coldest times of the year are the busiest for energy switching but the summer months are much better for the communications products. uSwitch are here to help people save money and that is a message that works any time of year. It links into news stories such as the budget announcement or the release of employment figures.
