Do you have any blogging stories you’d like to share? E.g. people you’ve met, new opportunities, career

I started out writing my blog anonymously as I wasn’t sure how successful it would be and I just wanted the freedom to write freely, without writing to an editor’s brief. As my travel writing career has developed, I now openly identify myself as the editor of my site and I have realised that is has become a valuable tool in branding myself as a writer as well as being a successful travel and lifestyle website in its own right. I’m a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and many travel writers I know would admit that having your own blog is a great asset as a professional freelance writer. I’m learning all the time – there’s always something new to learn about blogging – but I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved in three and a half years!

Do you have any tips to those just starting to monetise their blogs?

Remember to keep your integrity and values when you first start monetising your blog. It’s easy to accept the first advertising opportunity that comes your way because the payment is tempting, but you need to make sure you’re working with brands and companies that you genuinely like and fit in with what you write about.

What’s you dream holiday destination?

The Caribbean is one of my favourite holiday destinations and there are many islands I still haven’t visited like Tobago and Grenada. After that, I’d love to visit Bali one day.
