Welcome to the fourth article in our top tips series aimed specifically at advertisers who sit within the client services support team at affilinet. This article will look specifically at links, the differences between them and how to implement links correctly to make the most out of your affiliate program.

What is a deeplink?

A deeplink is a link which connects to a page beyond the homepage of your site. Usually this is searchable or indexed content on a website.

What is a textlink?

A textlink is the visible, clickable text that connects you to the deeplink. This is the link which affiliates can see, it is important that you connect your deeplink to a text link to make the link visible.

How to create and implement a text link

Step 1

To enter the correct area on the advertiser portal go to creative>add creative>add new creative as shown in the screen shot below.

Step 2

Click the ‘text link’ button circled in the screen shot below

Step 3

In the options fill in title, copy and paste the title in the content box, check the linked box and check the active box.

Step 4

Click the ‘select’ button (circled in the screen shot below). Press the search button (not the default deep link) and select the deep link you would like to link to and click save.

Your text link will now be implemented and live. Please note that it can take up to an hour for the text link to show up in the publisher’s side of the interface.
