Getting to know Vik Nigam…Head of Business Development

Vik recently joined the affilinet team as UK Head of Business Development. I decided to sit down and ask him a few questions about his role, what attracted him to the digital industry and more…

 

You recently joined affilinet, what do you think so far?

I am loving my time here. Everyone has been warm, welcoming, helpful, and above all cheerful – it’s a lovely environment to work in.

Tell me a little about your previous experience?

I started off working for the FT as a Research and Broadcast Sales Exec, working up to Senior International Key Account Manager, managing global research campaigns for FTSE 250 clients, and managing teams of up to 75 people around the globe. I then moved into business development for marketing, design and branding agencies. Most recently I worked for a digital branding agency called Tourist (www.wearetourist.com) where I was head of Business Development and Marketing functions.

What attracted you to the digital industry?

The measurability of the affiliate industry is the most attractive aspect. Any marketing activity, be it a sale, or increasing brand equity, can be measured, and quantified. The level of insight into the consumer is huge and increasing all the time. This specific aspect of the marketing industry is getting the relationship of data and consumer behaviour spot on.

Tell me about your new role and what it involves?

I am head of UK Business Development. This involves the implementation of BD focused processes to ensure that affilinet brings on new accounts with greater frequency. Being more strategically focused on our sales and marketing capacity, I want to ensure that affilinet better understands it’s value to the market, and how to best bring on board more client accounts.

What are your goals for affilinet for the second half of 2016?

To ensure that there is a consistent approach to how we develop new business, to help my team members grow in their roles, and of course to increase the amount of clients we service.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that the team doesn’t know

I was a session drummer/percussionist in my late teens’, and drummed for Jazzy B/Soul to Soul, and Dave Gahan/Depeche Mode, and Jamiroquai.

Finally… what was the last purchase you made online?

A holiday to Barbados.
